Tiny Caffe, Plaster Ghosts and Switzerland

Monday was a quiet day for us in lovely Lake Como. We started the day with a great brunch at a super cute spot just steps away from Casa Varenna.

This place is super cool. Arched roof, jazz music and about 4 tables inside.

View from our table. That is Menaggio across the lake.

After we ate, we drove the long winding switch back road up to Castello Di Vezio. Castello Di Vezio is the ruined remains of an old castle that dates back to the late 1100's. The site was selected for its commanding view over a vast part of Lake Como. The view from this perch is absolutely spectacular. It's a vista that you could look at for hours and hours.

Approaching Castello Di Vezio from the north face.

The village of Varenna sits below the Castello.

What an incredible setting... The closest hump in the background is Bellagio.

They have these super funky plaster "ghosts" all around the property.

Bronwyn's plaster buddy.

For the remainder of the day we drove along the western side of Lake Como and ended up in Switzerland at a super posh outlet mall. No real deals to be had, but we can say that we went to Switzerland.

By the time we caught the ferry from Menaggio to Varenna it was time for bed.
